Areas of Practice

Automobile Accident

Nothing is simple about a car accident claim. Failure to act quickly is often the downfall of people who have been involved in vehicular collisions. Landrum Law LLC wants to help you make the right choices about your injury and your claim. Whether you were injured in the accident, or the person who received a citation and is being accused of negligence, chances are good that the insurance company will call you within days of an accident. Failure to have the right information available for the insurance company, saying the wrong thing or providing the wrong information may affect a settlement or lawsuit later. Call my office and I will help you assess your injuries and your chances of recovery. I can also help you to protect your interests if you are concerned someone will make a claim against you or sue you. When I represent insurance companies, 90% of my work is actually protecting the insureds who have that insurance coverage. I can assure insurance companies and their insureds alike that I take each automobile accident, whether it is a simple rear-ender or a multiple vehicle accident very seriously to protect the interests of the people for which I am hired.

Slip and Fall Accidents

Slip and falls happen anywhere from people’s homes, yards, businesses to the local city parks. No matter where they occur, there may be insurance coverage for them. Again, it is important for you to obtain a quick and accurate assessment of your injuries for your chances of recovery or your liability risk if someone accuses you of wrongdoing.

Mediation

I earned my Master in Laws in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in 2002, because I believe it is important for attorneys to see both sides of a dispute in order to truly help their clients. As a mediator, I help attorneys and parties see that if a case cannot be resolved, (80% of cases do settle), they will know the clear, narrow issues in dispute. I bring a neutral, but compassionate demeanor to my mediation practice with experience in civil, domestic, contract and employment disputes. I have the skill and temperament to be an advocate for a party at one mediation and the neutral mediator at another.

Personal Injury / Insurance Defense

These two areas of law are closely related, because most civil cases are also dealing with insurance law and insurance carriers who insure people accused of negligent behavior. My twenty years of experience litigating civil cases from simple rear-end collisions to complicated business litigation has prepared me to represent both Plaintiffs (the person filing the lawsuit) and Defendants (the individual or the company being sued). The majority of my experience has been interpreting insurance policies and defending insureds who have been involved in accidents of some kind. As I branch out into Plaintiffs’ work, I can understand how the defense attorneys and insurance adjusters are reviewing cases and be better prepared to defeat their arguments. No matter which side of a case, I will advocate for that party to the best of my abilities.

Appellate Work

Writing legal motions and briefs has become a passion of mine. I love looking at old laws and finding new ways to interpret them and apply them to new fact scenarios. Appellate advocacy is all about the skills of creative problem-solving, good written communication and the ability to argue a legal point in front of (at least three) judges whose main goal is to ask the tough questions about why my legal position is the best one. I thrive in any courtroom, but especially at the appellate level. My record shows that I can look at the details and the big picture to help you win an appeal.

Contract Law

I have spent the last twenty years reading and interpreting a variety of contracts, including mortgage contracts, insurance policies, rental and lease agreements, and real estate contracts. Most contracts, which you will sign were created by the attorneys of the other party (mortgages, insurance policies, etc). In any major transaction, it is important to read the fine print of the contract and many times you will need an attorney’s input, even if it is for peace of mind. An attorney’s opinion will help you understand and modify the contract, if necessary to protect your interests. My fees are reasonable and I will give you the confidence you need to move forward in these contracts.

Traffic Tickets

There will be times when a moving violation will affect not only your driving record, but also your insurance premiums and eligibility to drive at all. I have been amending tickets for customers in virtually every city and county in the Kansas City area, in both Kansas and Missouri; each jurisdiction has different laws and procedures. I can help you understand the consequences of your traffic violations and give you the best options to protect your interests.
